Why is it necessary to test drinking water and water used for production purposes?
The microbiological quality of water can directly influence human health and it can also cause contamination to technological processes.
Our laboratory's experience shows that infringement of microbiological parameters is quite common both in terms of individual as well as communal water sources.
Such infringements might result from contamination of the water itself, as well as from secondary contamination during the process of obtaining or conditioning or contamination from waterworks and water sources.
We analyze different types of water:
- drinking water,
- industrial water,
- cooling water,
- water in public swimming pools,
- water from wells and sources at production plants and arable farms.
We also conduct tests towards presence of Legionella.
Threat of contamination with Legionella may appear in:
- waterworks networks
- warm water containers
- air conditioning installations
Points of possible contamination with this type of bacteria are:
- warm water pipe networks,
- warm water containers,
- drawing valves,
- shower heads,
- cooling water circulations tied to air conditioning devices, cooling towers
- water massage devices, pearl pools etc.
Testing for Legionella spp. needs to be conducted:
- in residential buildings - it is obligatory and it is derived from the directive (29.03.2007) - it concerns mainly hospitals, hotels, sanatoriums, orphanages, shelters
- in installations where water is used as a cooling agent, in closed-circuit cooling, especially where water circulation causes aerosols to be formed.
Drinking water analyses are conducted on the basis of requirements included in Health Ministry Directive from 29.03.2007:
The laboratory has been approved for conducting water analyses by PPIS Legionowo (both microbiological and physicochemical tests)
- Sampling of water is conducted along requirements of PN-EN ISO 19458:2007 - microbiological analysis and PN-EN ISO 5667-5: 2003 - physicochemical analysis. Both methods are accredited.
- Tests cover all parameters within the range of control and survey monitoring.
Range of water tests:
- Legionella - quantitative method - membrane filtration method
- The general number of colonies (at 22˚C) - quantitative method - plate method (deep inoculation)
- The general number of colonies (at 37˚C) - quantitative method - plate method (deep inoculation)
- Coli group bacteria - quantitative method - plate method (deep inoculation)
- Escherichia coli - quantitative method - membrane filtration method
- Enterococcus feacalis - quantitative method - membrane filtration method
- Coagulaso-positive enteococcus - quantitative method - membrane filtration method
- Coli group bacteria - faecalis genus (at 44˚C) - quantitative method - membrane filtration method
- Clostridium perfingens - quantitative method - membrane filtration method
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa - quantitative method - membrane filtration method
WE ALSO CONDUCT ANALYSES OF TABLE, MINERAL AND SPRING WATERS
